Gary Pearson is a public relations and social media manager, freelance writer, former sports reporter, sports aficionado, philomath and thirsty traveller forever in search of new adventures.
He has lived in four continents – Africa, Europe, North America and Australia – and currently resides in London after recently moving from Brisbane, which boasts a superb humid subtropical climate. Some Brisbanites complain about the winter here, a staggering thought considering the city’s sunny and warm conditions.
Pearson hails from Calgary, Canada, the home of the Calgary Stampede, the 1988 winter Olympic Games and the 1989 Stanley Cup Champions, but is the only one in his family lineage born outside of England.
All of his roots are submerged deep in England’s culture. Most impassioned about sports, travel and human interest stories, he believes non-fiction anecdotes often, at first glance, appear more fictional than fiction itself.
He has freelanced for the Canadian Press, Blaze Magazine – the official magazine of the Calgary Flames, Zone Magazine – the official magazine of the Calgary Hitmen, The Travel Itch, Hackwriters (though he is not a hack writer) Go Nomad and In Travel Magazine. Gary regularly contributes to Kiss from the World, an online travel publication.
